As per the new findings of the planetary scientists, moon has unexpected reserves of water under its surface, much ahead of what was previously estimated. The US scientists have come with a unexpected finding that moon contains water in its minerals and this can be hundred fold than the previous calculation.
This calculation is based on the findings of the mineral apatite that lies in the lunar rocks. The calculation has also been made by the Apollo space missions in Africa. Besides, the lunar meteorite has revealed some extra clues in this matter.
In a write up in the planetary journal with the national academy of sciences, the planetary scientists have made it clear that water is in the interior of the moon, that too in unexpected quantities. The scientists further said that for 40 years this fake concept that moon was dry proved to be wrong.
As per Francis McCubbin of the carnige melon university, if the water locked up inside the rock surface of the moon is put on the surface, it will make a layer that is 1 meter thick covering the entire surface of the moon.
