Telecom Minister A Raja said on Wednesday that the government is likely to earn upto Rs 45000 crore from the auction of broadband spectrum and 3G. The amount is much higher as what was estimated upto Rs.35, 000 crore by the various statistical organization.
Raja asserted on the sidelines of a telecom event, “The auction of 3G and BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) spectrum put together is likely to fetch Rs. 44,000 to Rs. 45,000 crore for the govt.”.The revenue has surpassed all the prediction and estimation made by the relevant sources. The quality and user friendliness are the attribute asserted for its huge popularity and easy accessibility by the greater section of the population.
The govt. would get atleast Rs. 25, 770 crore from the sale of third generation (3G) spectrum alone. The base price increased to Rs. 6355 crore for pan-India frequency from Rs. 3500 crore, on Tuesday, which was the 9th day of bidding. With a bid of Rs. 733.71 crore, Delhi continues to be on the top. Till now fifty two rounds have been completed and there is no access demand in major circles like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Delhi.
This shows that the price may not go further in these circles. Any new interested operator can come back and bid for any of the circle till the government discovers price in all the areas simultaneously. Now it is expected from the various sources that the earning of the government may increase further.
