Russia: Three navigation satellites which were carrying by a rocket launched on Thursday in Russia from the space centre in Kazakhstan.
Spokesman for Russian Space Forces, Lt. Col. Alexei Zolotukhin, said that, with Three Galonass satellites, the Proton-M carrier rocket blasted of from the space centre at 4.53 am Moscow time.
The Glonass, the Global Navigation Satellite system is designed for both civilian and military use and it is equivalent of the US Global Positioning System (GPS).
Currently Russia has whole number of 22 Glonass satellite in orbit, however just 16 of them are functional. To cover entire territory of Russia minimum 18 operational satellite systems requires for continuous navigation services and at least 24 satellites to offer navigation services across the world.
